In a rare moment of sobriety, Pawlick retired to his studio to try his hand at representational art. When it was found abandoned in a garbage pile years later, a stunned art world refused at first to accept its authenticity despite evidence of Pawlick's fingerprints, paint chemicals, and the entry in his personal journal reading "Yes I made the one that looks like a cat."
